Actenoides hombroni

A painting of the Green-backed kingfisher (Dutch: Blauwkopbosijsvogel).

This Kingfisher species is found almost throughout Sulawesi. Males and females look almost the same. Only the females have a more complex head pattern. Not very much is known about this species. It has a sub-species with a black head which is proposed as a separate species. But too little is know to determine if that is correct. Listed as not globally threatened but considered near threatened. Population unknown but suspected to be decreasing. Due to forest destruction.

Painted with water mixable oil paints on wooden panel.

Size: 15 x 15 x 6 cm

Varnished with a satin varnish, signed on the back.
Comes with a little golden hook to hang and a certificate of authenticity.
